With over 1000 bird species, Uganda has established itself as leading inhabitant of the largest number of rare birds in the world. In many natioal parks, game reserves and wetlands in Uganda, you will find many birds including rarities that cannot be aesily found elsewhere in the world. The Shoebill Stork is a favourite to Birders who visit Uganda. The country also attracts many migrant birds from the North and south and is the richest country for birds in Africa. Bird watching is concentrated on an areas such as Mabamba Swamp, Lake Mburo National Park, Bwindi, the Albert Rift, Bigodi Wetland in Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth NP, Murchison Falls NP etc.
